In questo contributo si riportano i risultati di un'indagine realizzata, nell'ambito delle attività  del progetto Biomasfor, finalizzata a stimare la disponibilità  potenziale di biomasse forestali residuali da utilizzare per scopi energetici, compatibilmente con il regime dei prelievi pianificati in Trentino. L'indagine ha riguardato in particolare le fustaie di conifere destinate alla produzione di legname, come categoria di bosco, e i residui originati dalle loro utilizzazioni, come tipologia di prodotto.

Forest biomass for energy purposes: resources estimated in the Trento Province (Italy)

Abstract

Among the activities of the Biomasfor project (www.biomasfor.org), funded by "Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto", a survey was carried out in order to estimate the availability of forest biomass for energy purposes in compliance with the scheduled woody removals in the Trento Province. The survey was focused on coniferous forests used for timber production (forest category) and with woody residues arising from their harvests (product type). In the Province of Trento, according to the average yearly removals and end-use market of products, it is estimated that 62,000 cubic metres of woody residues are left in the forest, due to ordinary harvests, and these could be used as bio-fuel. However, taking into account some technical and environmental constraints, the total woody removals allowing recovery of residues are reduced up to 38%.
